The waste collection sector is looking at electric refuse collection vehicles (eRCVs) to meet decarbonisation targets. eRCVs will improve local air quality, reducing particulate and harmful emissions from diesel vehicles in towns and cities.

Switching to eRCVs reduces total cost of ownership (TCO). Our modelling of real-world fleet data shows a saving of 13-16% can be made when moving from ICE to EV. Fleets save on maintenance and operational costs, while extending the lifespan of the assets.

eRCVs are much quieter than diesel, so they reduce noise pollution. This is not only better for residents but provides more flexibility to collection scheduling.

Reuse old vehicles
With improvements in battery and conversion technology, costs can be further reduced by repowering old diesel vehicles into eRCVs. This delivers additional CO2 savings in manufacturing.
